Job Description:
As part of the core Engineering team, you will lead the design and development of best-in-class manufacturing processes for a variety of consumer electronic products that combine soft goods, mechanical parts and electronic components.
You will be the key link between our manufacturing partners and our clients, during the product development and NPI project phases, ensuring robust manufacturing processes are developed and implemented to meet our client’s specification requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Be responsible for the defining manufacturing processes for new development projects with challenging geometric and cosmetic requirements.
• Lead the design, development, and qualification of test equipment, process tooling, assembly jigs and fixtures and influence supplier and equipment selection
• Project highly visible process engineering leadership and lead the communication of all technical manufacturing issues between our clients and our partner vendors.
• Support our manufacturing partners in the development of SOP’s, robust quality plans and training plans.
• Work closely with our product development engineering team on DFM, prototype reviews, tooling trials and process design reviews.
• Be responsible for ensuring alignment on technical specifications between our clients and our manufacturing partner vendors.
• Collaborate with our manufacturing partners on establishing process controls that meet our internal and our client’s requirements.
• Generate detailed reports documenting technical project status against project plan, and identify risks to schedule to the internal management team.
• Troubleshoot process problems and through Design of Experiments, implement process changes and innovative solutions for long term prevention.
• Evaluate the manufacturing assembly requirements for new projects working closely with our internal and our client engineering teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar
• 7+ years of hands on manufacturing engineering experience, in a multinational hardware manufacturing environment
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, product functional testing and the development of manufacturing jig/fixture’s
• Proven track record in assembly process design and development for consumer hardware products with challenging geometric and cosmetic requirements
• Experience managing the technical execution of new consumer products from product development to high volume manufacturing
• Highly adept at providing technical leadership to process engineering teams at manufacturing facilities and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions
• Ability to function effectively in a fast paced cross functional team environment with exceptional analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to use statistical tools and techniques
• Proficient in 3D CAD such as Pro E or Solidworks
• Flexible and comfortable working in a quickly changing environment
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with a proven ability of working effectively within all levels of the organization, with international clients and with local vendor base.
